About the event
Claude Cahun (1894-1954), pseudonym of Lucy Schwob, is a 20th century French artist whose avant-garde and moving creations have remained largely unknown to the public. Forgotten after the Second World War and then rediscovered from the beginning of the 1990s, her works, largely autobiographical and composed of photographs, essays and poetry, nevertheless constitute a milestone in the history of surrealism. Obsessed by the themes of identity and self-representation, Claude Cahun used all means of expression for 40 years, questioning her identity and image in an unprecedented way. Resisting all oppression, she also put her art at the service of her political commitment. It is the life and work of this artist with an unclassifiable career that we invite you to discover in this conference.
