About the event
Few people know it, but Victor Hugo, born in the 19th century, when "this century was two years old", and died in 1885, a prolific author and artist, lived for many years in Paris, leaving traces of his passage in several districts of the capital, including the Marais. Indeed, following the literary success obtained with the publication of his famous novel, Notre-Dame de Paris, in 1831, the writer settled with his family in a wealthy mansion on the Place Royale (today Place des Vosges), where he resided from 1832 to 1851.
Becoming a museum in 1903, thanks to the efforts of his friend and collaborator Paul Meurice, as well as his adored grandchildren, Georges and Jeanne, the Victor Hugo house remains confidential today, few daring to set its threshold, located under one of the arcades of the square. Yet, entering this place is to experience tranquility, a taste for poetry and beauty, all while following in the footsteps of the writer and his family, before their exile in the Channel Islands of Jersey and then Guernsey.
Come and discover with me the charm and secrets of this unmissable place, during a privileged visit, which will allow you to go back in time, by tracing the thread of Victor Hugo's literary successes, by entering the intimacy of his literary and artistic network, or by discovering that if he was an illustrious man of letters in the three great genres of literature (theater, poetry and novel), Victor Hugo was also a great designer and furniture designer!
To do this, you can contact me directly via my site, knowing that the visits last about 1h30, and that the Victor Hugo house is accessible to people with reduced mobility.
