About the event
On the occasion of the 130th anniversary of the death of Gustave Caillebotte (1848-1894), come and discover with me the exhibition event organized by the Musée d'Orsay: "Gustave Caillebotte. Painting men". Aiming to offer a new point of view on the figures of Caillebotte, artist and major patron of the Impressionist movement , the Musée d'Orsay allows you to rediscover a whole section of the artist's work, which focused on the representations of different male figures (workers, bourgeois, city dwellers, boaters, etc.) at the end of the 19th century. Thanks to a selection of exceptional works , most of which come from American museums ( Man Bathing , On the Pont de l'Europe , Portrait of a Man , Young Man at the Window ) or private collections ( Portrait of Madame Martial Caillebotte , The Luncheon , Caserne de la Pépinière , The Man on the Balcony , Boulevard Seen from Above ), not to mention its exceptional acquisitions ( Part of a Boat in particular), the exhibition allows us to revalue Caillebotte's place within the Impressionist movement, as well as his originality. These paintings are complemented by pastels as well as numerous preparatory studies , allowing us to enter into the work process of Caillebotte, initially trained in realist painting . An exhibition not to be missed!
