About the event
In Paris, the last monographic exhibition dedicated to the French artist Suzanne Valadon dates back to 1967 , almost 30 years after her death. To recall the importance of Suzanne Valadon's artistic vision and her contribution to modernity, the Centre Pompidou-Metz designed the exhibition "Suzanne Valadon. A World of One's Own" in 2023 , which will stop in Paris in 2025 , with new loans and unpublished archives , after having been shown at the Musée d'arts de Nantes and the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya in Barcelona in 2024 .
In this way, the exhibition provides an exceptional opportunity, shortly before the museum closes its doors for 5 years, to this free, independent artist, who produced a body of work in parallel with the avant-gardes of the 20th century . Enriched by nearly 200 works , most of which come from Beaubourg (the most important collection), but also from the Orsay and Orangerie museums , not to mention loans from national institutions ( MET in New York, Fondation de l'Hermitage) and private collections , the graphic work of the artist is truly in the spotlight.
Visiting this exhibition is thus discovering the artist's life journey, from his beginnings as a model for the Montmartre crowd to his artistic recognition, all placed in the context of the time (cafés, cabarets, recognition by critics).
To find out more about this modern and bohemian artist, do not hesitate to contact me to organize a guided tour , and obtain all the necessary information to ensure the visit goes as smoothly as possible (accessibility of the museum, ticket price, etc.).
